Lokichar Ward MCA Samuel Lomodo has raised serious concerns over the ongoing disarmament operation targeting communities in Pokot and Turkana, warning that the exercise is disproportionately affecting local leaders, including chiefs and members of the National Police Reservists (NPR).
Lomodo claimed that several local authorities have been injured, maimed, and in some cases forced to provide intelligence under duress during the security operation-actions he says are illegal and amount to violations of human rights.

The vocal MCA urged the Cabinet Secretary for Interior, Kipchumba Murkomen, to ensure that the disarmament exercise is carried out fairly and without bias.
He further stressed that security operations should protect communities rather than target those working with authorities to maintain peace.
He also called on the government to review the conduct of the operation to safeguard human rights while pursuing efforts to restore security in the region.
