Transport along the Kitale–Lodwar highway was disrupted after heavy rains washed away the Morpus temporary bridge yesterday evening, leaving motorists stranded and causing a long traffic jam along the busy route.
The destruction of the temporary bridge brought movement to a standstill as vehicles heading to and from Lodwar were forced to halt, with drivers and passengers waiting for hours as authorities assessed the situation. Witnesses reported that the bridge was overwhelmed by fast-rising floodwaters following intense rainfall in the area. The strong current swept away sections of the temporary structure, making it impossible for vehicles to cross.
