Police in Garissa County have arrested a suspect believed to be linked to a series of violent robberies reported in Garissa Township.
The National Police Service (NPS) said the arrest followed investigations, intelligence gathering and the pursuit of leads aimed at identifying persons behind the recent incidents.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, the NPS said officers acted on actionable intelligence to track down and arrest the suspect in Garissa County.
“Yesterday, these efforts yielded results when officers, acting on actionable intelligence, tracked down and arrested a suspect in Garissa County,” the NPS said.
According to the police, the suspect had been wanted in connection with offences committed within Garissa Township and was taken into custody following the intelligence-led operation.
The NPS said the suspect is expected to be presented before a court to face charges related to the alleged offences.
The arrest comes as security agencies step up efforts to curb violent crime in Garissa and apprehend individuals suspected of involvement in criminal activities.
Police said the operation demonstrates their continued commitment to protecting residents and responding to security threats through investigations and intelligence-led operations.
“The NPS remains steadfast in its commitment to tacking crime, safeguarding the public, and ensuring that offenders are held fully accountable under the law,” the statement read.
The Service has urged residents to work closely with law enforcement agencies by providing information that could assist investigators in identifying and apprehending other suspects linked to criminal activities in the area.
