Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has begun a nationwide tour to popularize the People’s Party of Kenya, declaring that the opposition must intensify efforts to defeat President Ruto in the 2027 General Election.
Speaking to supporters in Murang’a on Wednesday, Nyoro said he had campaigned for the Kenya Kwanza administration during the 2022 election but had since become disillusioned by what he described as the government’s failure to fulfill its promises.
“The last time we were here with the government, we told you there was a bottom-up approach, but today, are you up or bottom?” Nyoro posed.
“Are you better than you were last time or has it gotten worse?”
The Kiharu MP said his focus would be on building a stronger opposition rather than engaging in personal attacks against political leaders.
“I will not engage in any insults with any leaders. My only goal here is to increase the speed at which Ruto is going home,” he said.
Nyoro also signaled his intention to actively compete for political office rather than wait for political leaders to allocate positions.
He said he was ready to “hop into the ring” and contest against other aspirants as political parties and alliances prepare for the 2027 election.
The MP, however, warned that the People’s Party would not accommodate politicians who had insulted members of the emerging united opposition or those associated with disruptions and chaos at churches.
“The People’s Party haina watu wa matusi na watu wa fujo. Kama wewe umewatukana Gachagua, na Matiang’i, na Kalonzo, hii chama yetu haina nafasi yako,” he said.
Nyoro urged politicians seeking to join the party to first reconcile with members of the wider opposition.
Unveils Proposed Policies
The Kiharu Legislator said he had received a mandate from his supporters to tour the country and popularize the People’s Party ahead of the 2027 elections.
He said the party would push policies focused on tackling unemployment and reducing the cost of education.
Among his proposals is free secondary education for all day scholars and the permanent employment of Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) teachers by the Teachers Service Commission.
Nyoro also proposed revitalizing the tourism sector to create more than 3,000 jobs and establishing industries across the country to expand employment opportunities.
