Two people have died following a violent confrontation in Lailuba Village after a man was allegedly attacked and killed by his brothers-in-law.
The incident occurred in Tigania East Constituency when the man reportedly visited his mother-in-law to help persuade her to seek medical treatment.
Residents said the deceased had gone to assist the elderly woman, who had been unwell, but was allegedly attacked by two brothers and their sister during the visit.
According to neighbours, the three assaulted the man, leading to his death.
Mob Justice Leaves Another Suspect Dead
The killing sparked anger among residents, who reportedly descended on one of the suspects in an act of mob justice.
The suspect was severely beaten by the crowd before residents set two houses believed to be hiding the other suspects on fire.

Security officers later arrived at the scene and managed to rescue two suspects from the angry crowd.
However, the suspect who had been assaulted by residents died while being rushed to hospital.
Local Administration Condemns the Incident
Confirming the tragedy, John Mamira described the incident as deeply unfortunate and urged residents not to take the law into their own hands.
“Kuna huzuni nyingi sana hapa mahali maafa ilitokea, na ningetaka kuwaomba wananchi, ata kama umekasirika namna gani, tafadhali tusichukulie sheria mikononi ili aliyekukosea achukuliwe hatua,” he said.
“Marehemu alikuwa amekuja kusaidia mama yake, shemeji, kwa hivyo amekufia kwa uzuri wake na si ati alikuwa na uhasama.”
The chief noted that he had visited the family just a week earlier to encourage the elderly woman to continue taking her medication after being discharged from hospital.
Neighbours Describe Family as Reclusive
Residents who condemned the violence said the family was known for living in isolation and rarely interacting with members of the community.
“Hawa watu ninawajua vizuri sana. Wamekuwa wakikaa kwa boma ya mama yao na wako na over 40 years wote mpaka huyo dada ako karibu miaka 50. Tunataka wachukuliwe hatua kali sana… wanaishi vibaya sana ata hawashirikiani na watu,” said one neighbour.
Police Investigations Ongoing
The bodies of the two deceased individuals have been moved to the mortuary at Miathene Level 4 Hospital.
Meanwhile, two suspects — a brother and sister — are currently being held at Muthaara Police Station as police continue investigations into the incident.
Authorities have urged residents to remain calm and allow the law to take its course.
