Kenya will host the Ambassadors and High Commissioners Conference from March 27 to March 30, 2026, in Nairobi as the government seeks to strengthen the country’s diplomatic engagement and advance its national interests amid a rapidly changing global landscape.
The high-level conference will bring together Kenyan ambassadors and high commissioners serving across the world to review the country’s foreign policy priorities, assess emerging global trends and develop strategies for strengthening international partnerships.
The forum is expected to reinforce Kenya’s position as a regional diplomatic hub while enhancing economic diplomacy, trade promotion and international cooperation.
Shape Kenya’s Foreign Policy Agenda
Speaking after receiving a briefing on preparations for the conference, Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi said the meeting will provide an opportunity for the government to redefine Kenya’s diplomatic priorities and align its foreign missions with national development objectives.
“The government will use this platform to reflect on Kenya’s diplomatic priorities and align our missions abroad with the country’s development goals,” Mudavadi said.
The conference will be held under the theme: “Advancing Kenya’s Interests in a Rapidly Evolving Geopolitical Landscape.”
According to Mudavadi, discussions will focus on how Kenya can respond to shifting geopolitical dynamics while protecting its economic and strategic interests.
Key Issues on the Agenda
Delegates are expected to deliberate on several strategic areas that are increasingly shaping global diplomacy, including climate diplomacy, science and technology cooperation, the blue economy, global health diplomacy, multilateral engagement, and peace and regional stability.
Mudavadi said Kenya is increasingly positioning itself as a key player in regional and international diplomacy through strategic partnerships and policy leadership.
“Kenya continues to position itself as a convening hub for high-level diplomatic dialogue, with strong emphasis on economic diplomacy, climate action and sustainable ocean governance,” he said.
Promoting Trade, Investment and International Cooperation
The conference is also expected to provide Kenyan diplomats with an opportunity to review the country’s engagement with international partners while identifying new opportunities to attract trade, investment and development cooperation.
Senior officials who accompanied Mudavadi during the preparatory briefing included Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs Korir Sing’oei and Director-General for Political and DIplomatic Affairs Josphat Maikara.
The government expects the conference to strengthen Kenya’s diplomatic network and ensure its foreign missions play a more active role in advancing national interests, promoting economic partnerships and supporting regional peace and stability.
