Residents of Kolioro and Tiya in Turkwel Ward, Loima Sub-County, are set to benefit from a proposed partnership between the County Government of Turkana and Soweto Academy Foundation focusing on agriculture and Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE).
The partnership was discussed during a courtesy call hosted by Deputy Governor Dr John Erus at the county headquarters in Lodwar on October 27, 2026.
Dr Erus said the county government was committed to delivering services through partnerships and would continue creating a conducive environment for organisations working to improve the livelihoods of local communities.

The meeting agreed on the need to sign a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to guide joint planning, coordination and implementation of the proposed programmes.
Bishop Chris Okumu of Soweto Academy Foundation said the foundation's approach included drilling and equipping boreholes to improve water access and support sustainable agricultural production.
He said the visit was intended to share the foundation's vision of empowering communities to engage in agriculture as a way of improving food security and household livelihoods.
Improved water access could support farming activities and help communities strengthen their ability to produce food, although the implementation of the proposed initiatives will depend on the agreed programme arrangements.
Dr Erus urged the foundation to consider extending its programmes to other parts of Turkana County, noting that Turkana North and Turkana South had potential for both subsistence and commercial agricultural production.
The discussions also covered implementation through local partners and the contribution of faith-led institutions to community transformation and resilience-building.
The proposed collaboration is expected to bring together county government structures and the foundation's community engagement networks to support the planned activities.
The meeting was attended by Idris Williams, the foundation's Ambassador to Africa; Joseph Kebo of the Full Gospel Churches of Kenya; and James Lomodo, Turkwel Ward Administrator.
The proposed partnership is intended to support communities in Kolioro and Tiya through agriculture and ECDE programmes, with the formal MoU expected to provide a framework for coordination and implementation.
Further details on the implementation schedule, funding arrangements and specific activities were not provided in the county's statement.
