President William Ruto has pledged KSh150 million towards the construction of a student hostel at the proposed Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Eldama Ravine Campus in Baringo County.
The President made the pledge on Friday while laying the foundation stone for Phase Two of the campus during his development tour of the region.
Ruto said the expansion of KMTC facilities would help develop human resources for health and support the delivery of Primary Health Care and Universal Health Coverage.

The proposed hostel is expected to address accommodation needs as the campus expands and enrolment grows.
Phase Two of the project will include eight additional classrooms, complementing the first phase, which has eight completed and equipped classrooms.
An administration block is also under construction as part of the initial phase.
The first phase was funded by the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) Board through its Corporate Social Responsibility Programme.
Meanwhile, Karen Roses Kenya, Eldama Ravine Branch, has committed KSh22 million towards Phase Two.
The expansion is expected to increase the campus’s capacity to support medical training and prepare more healthcare professionals.
The proposed KMTC campus sits on 5.5 acres of land adjacent to Eldama Ravine Sub-County Referral Hospital.
Its location is expected to support the relationship between medical training and healthcare service delivery.
Speaking on behalf of the college, KMTC Board Chairperson Joseah Cheruiyot thanked President Ruto, Eldama Ravine Member of Parliament Musa Sirma, the Ravine hospital board, Karen Roses Kenya and the local community for supporting the establishment and development of the campus.
He acknowledged the contributions made towards the ongoing construction and expansion plans.
Cheruiyot also appealed for further support to complete and equip key facilities needed for the campus’s long-term operations.
The requests include the construction and equipping of skills and computer laboratories, acquisition of a double-cab utility vehicle and development of additional student accommodation.
He further requested more land to allow for future expansion as the institution grows.
The proposed campus forms part of efforts to expand medical training opportunities in Baringo County and strengthen the supply of trained healthcare personnel.
The completion of the planned facilities will be important in determining the campus’s capacity to accommodate students and deliver practical medical training.
