KAPSERET, Kenya — Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has hinted at possible presidential ambitions after 2027, saying leaders will assess their political support once President William Ruto's re-election campaign has been decided.

Sudi said the immediate priority was to secure Ruto another term before leaders hold discussions on future political leadership.

Speaking during a church service on Sunday, the MP said leaders would later organise themselves and conduct a nomination to determine who commands the greatest support among the Kalenjin community.

"Right now, we are working to secure 2027 votes for President William Ruto and after that, we shall sit down and then decide amongst the Kalenjins who has more votes," Sudi said.

"After President William Ruto, we shall sit down and conduct a nomination to see who has more votes," he added.

His remarks have drawn attention to discussions about political leadership beyond the 2027 General Election, although he did not announce a formal presidential bid.

The Kapseret MP also responded to criticism of his educational background, arguing that formal academic qualifications should not be used to dismiss his leadership abilities.
"Sometimes people misuse me and gossip that I have not gone to school. I can also be someone and lead people, even those who have gone to school and have papers," he said.
Sudi further maintained that he had qualifications in engineering and rejected claims that his credentials were borrowed from another person.

"You people and your papers, get ready, I also have my engineering papers and mine is not borrowed from anyone. I slowly did engineering and everyone here knows that I am an engineer, get ready," he said.

Free Education Initiative in Kapseret

Beyond politics, Sudi has promoted a free secondary education programme targeting students in public day secondary schools across Kapseret Constituency.
The initiative, branded "Tuboreshe Elimu Pamoja", meaning "Let us improve education together", is intended to reduce the financial burden on parents and improve access to education.
According to the supplied information, the programme covers tuition costs for learners in public day secondary schools and includes a free lunch component intended to support student welfare and school attendance.

Sudi is listed as the project's chief patron.

The initiative is presented as a way to address financial barriers that can affect school attendance, retention and academic performance, particularly among learners from low-income households.

Political Focus Remains on the 2027 Election

Sudi's comments place the immediate focus on Ruto's re-election campaign while leaving open questions about how leaders will organise themselves after the next general election.

His reference to a possible nomination suggests that political support could become a factor in future leadership discussions within the Kalenjin community.

However, the remarks do not amount to a formal declaration that Sudi will run for president.

For now, the MP has said his priority is supporting Ruto's bid for another term, while defending his leadership credentials and highlighting education support programmes in Kapseret.
