President Ruto is presiding over the two-day Kenya Health Summit 2026 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi, bringing together key health sector stakeholders to assess progress and chart the next phase of Kenya’s healthcare transformation.
Held under the theme “Reforms Delivered, Health as a Right”, the summit is focused on moving Kenya’s health agenda from policy commitments to a concrete implementation road map.
The meeting brings together national and county governments, development partners, health sector professionals and other stakeholders to strengthen intergovernmental coordination and promote mutual accountability across Kenya’s healthcare system.
Healthcare Reforms on the Agenda
Among the key issues being discussed is the on boarding of more than 31 million Kenyans onto the Social Health Authority (SHA) as the government seeks to expand access to healthcare services.
The summit is also focusing on digital health transformation and measures to improve efficiency at the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA).

Other priorities include the expansion of specialized healthcare services, strengthening primary healthcare, improving maternal and newborn health outcomes, and enhancing the role of Community Health Promoters in bringing essential services closer to households.
The discussions are expected to assess progress made in implementing healthcare reforms while identifying challenges and practical measures needed to improve service delivery.
Leaders and Global Health Partners
The summit has attracted wide participation from national and county government leaders, as well as international health partners and innovators.
Among those attending are Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, Cabinet Secretaries Musalia Mudavadi and Aden Duale, governors and representatives from county governments.
Global health partners, including the World Health Organization (WHO), are also participating alongside health-sector innovators.
The Kenya Health Summit 2026 is expected to provide a platform for stakeholders to evaluate the country’s healthcare reforms and agree on priorities for strengthening health services and ensuring access to quality healthcare for Kenyans.
