Paul Ngeno, the brother of the late Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ngeno, has died while receiving treatment at a hospital in Eldoret City, Narok County.
Paul died on Friday, August 21, 2026, shortly after former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua visited his family in Mogondo, Narok County, where his mother had appealed for assistance to settle his outstanding medical bill.
His hospital bill had reportedly risen to KSh1.8 million, with his mother, Mary Temas, asking Gachagua to help clear the debt and secure her son’s release from the hospital.
During the visit, Temas told Gachagua that Paul was the only surviving son in the family and appealed for financial assistance to settle the medical expenses.
Gachagua agreed to help clear the bill and expressed concern over Paul’s condition.
News of Paul’s death was announced by Bernard Ngeno, a former personal assistant to Johana Ngeno who also contested the recent Emurua Dikirr parliamentary by-election.
“I convey my message of condolences to the family of Arap Temas, for the loss of Paul Ngeno who was brother to the late Hon. Johana Ngeno,” Bernard said in a Facebook post.
He added, “We say pole to mama Mary and the whole family.”
Gachagua pledges support for Johana Ngeno’s mausoleum
During his visit, Temas also raised concerns over delays in constructing a permanent shelter over the grave of her late son Johana.
Johana Ngeno died on February 28, 2026, following a helicopter crash in the Mosop area. His death left Paul as the only remaining son of Mary Temas.
Temas asked Gachagua to assist with the construction of a permanent structure at Johana’s gravesite, saying previous commitments to build a mausoleum had not been fulfilled.

Gachagua agreed to support the project and asked Temas to identify her preferred design for the mausoleum before construction arrangements begin.
The former deputy president also pledged continued support to Temas, including assistance with her medical expenses and upkeep.

Gachagua criticised the government over what he described as failure to honor commitments made to the Ngeno family following Johana’s death.
Paul’s death adds another devastating loss to the family barely six months after the death of Johana, who was killed in a helicopter crash while serving as the Emurua Dikirr MP.
The family is now mourning the deaths of two sons within the same year, with Paul having died while undergoing treatment in Eldoret.
The circumstances surrounding Paul’s death were not immediately disclosed beyond reports that he had been receiving treatment at the Eldoret hospital.
