According to an official statement released by the National Police Service, the civilian handovers took place across separate sub-counties as part of an ongoing disarmament initiative designed to curb illicit arms proliferation and stamp out recurring inter-ethnic friction.
In Bangale Sub-County, cooperative members of the public handed over a cache containing two AK-47 assault rifles and thirty five rounds of ammunition directly to an active multi-agency security team.
Simultaneoulsy, a parallel recovery operation in neighboring Tana North Sub-County yielded an additional firearm alongside eight rounds of live ammunition.
The National Police Service lauded the voluntary surrenders as a powerful testament to the strengthening relationship and growing trust between local communities and security organs.
