Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has dismissed President Ruto’s proposed Vision 2060 development framework, describing it as a political distraction intended to shift public attention away from Kenya’s economic challenges.
Speaking during a church service at St. Peter’s ACK Cathedral in Embu County, Kalonzo argued that the government should prioritise upholding the Constitution and the rule of law before unveiling another long-term national development blueprint.
According to the opposition leader, millions of Kenyans continue to struggle with the high cost of living, unemployment and inflation, making immediate economic interventions more urgent than promises of extending decades into the future.
Kalonzo maintained that the goals of Vision 2030 have not yet been fully achieved, questioning the rationale behind launching Vision 2060 before completing the objectives of the current national development strategy.
The Wiper leader also rejected claims that former President Uhuru Kenyatta is financing opposition activities, insisting that Kenyatta remains one of the principals of the Azimio coalition. He further alleged that the Kenya Kwanza administration could use state agencies, including the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), to intimidate the former Head of State.
On preparations for the 2027 General Election, Kalonzo said opposition leaders are continuing consultations and will soon settle on a single presidential candidate to challenge President Ruto.

He also condemned lawmakers accused of accepting bribes to support the impeachment of former DP Rigathi Gachagua, arguing that any leader found culpable should be barred from holding public office for violating the leadership and integrity provisions contained in Chapter Six of the Constitution.
Addressing political developments in the Mt. Kenya region, Kalonzo dismissed recent remarks attributed to Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku, insisting the region would remain united while calling for national cohesion across the country.
Leaders accompanying the Wiper leader urged opposition principals to strengthen their cooperation ahead of the 2027 elections, saying a united coalition would present a strong challenge to President Ruto’s re-election bid. They also accused the Kenya Kwanza administration of repeatedly violating the Constitution and called for leadership committed to protecting democratic institutions and respecting the rule of law.
