School teams from Wajir County set to participate in the Kenya Senior Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) Term II Regional Championships have received a major boost after securing sponsorship from the Siyad Foundation ahead of the competition in Takaba, Mandera County.

The sponsorship was announced during a breakfast meeting hosted by the Foundation in Wajir, bringing together school principals, coaches, referees, KSSSA officials, representatives from the Kenya Secondary School Heads Association (KESSHA), the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET), and other sports stakeholders.

Speaking during the event, Siyad Foundation Chief Executive Officer and founder Hajji Siyad Abdalla said the initiative is part of the organization’s long-standing commitment to supporting young people through sports and education.

He noted that since 2016, the Foundation has invested in school games and community tournaments aimed at identifying, nurturing and promoting young talent while creating opportunities for athletes to excel both locally and nationally.

“Our commitment has always been to empower young people through sports by providing opportunities that help them develop their talents and pursue their dreams,” said Abdalla.

Wajir Girls High School Principal Madam Rahma commended the Foundation for its continued support, saying the sponsorship would ease the financial burden faced by schools and motivate students to perform well during the regional championships.

She observed that partnerships between educational institutions and community organizations play a crucial role in advancing both academic and sporting excellence.

Hon. D.M. Amin Girls Secondary School Principal Mr. Alibash Mohamed also praised the initiative, describing it as a timely intervention that highlights the value of collaboration in empowering young people.

He encouraged other well-wishers and organizations to support programmes that nurture talent and create opportunities for students through sports.

During the event, coaches whose teams emerged victorious during the county championships were recognized for their dedication and contribution to sports development.

The winning schools were also presented with complete sports kits by the Siyad Foundation to support their preparations for the regional competition.

The meeting brought together key stakeholders in the education and sports sectors as teams finalized preparations for the KSSSA Term II Regional Championships, where schools from across the region will compete for a chance to advance to the national stage.

The sponsorship is expected to strengthen the participating teams and inspire young athletes from Wajir to pursue excellence in sports while balancing their academic responsibilities.
