Routine maintenance works on the 17-kilometre Napetet–Kakwanyang–Nakadukui Road in Turkana Central have been successfully completed, significantly improving transport accessibility, road safety, and daily mobility for local residents and motorists.
Fully funded by the County Government of Turkana through the Department of Roads, the infrastructural upgrade focused heavily on extensive bush clearing and precision grading to clear historical blind spots and smooth out degraded terrain along the entire corridor.
To ensure strict adherence to engineering benchmarks, a technical delegation from the roads department conducted a comprehensive final inspection of the network, expressing high satisfaction with the structural quality and compliance metrics delivered by the structural team.

During the site inspection, Deputy Director for Roads Julia Agis commended the contractor for executing the project efficiently and upholding high workmanship standards. Agis emphasized that the newly revitalized 17-km stretch serves as a vital economic link connecting Township Ward and Kangatotha Ward within Turkana Central Sub-County, which will play an invaluable role in easing regional transportation, streamlining trade, and supporting socio-economic activities.
The official quality sign-off was witnessed by an administrative team including County Road Surveyor Janet Bosibori, Christopher Aposo (County Examiner), Lomoe Shakespeare (Procurement Officer), Peter Ekoyan (Accountant), Benson Ekidor (Monitoring and Evaluation Officer), and Emmanuel Amodoi (Roads Engineer).
This project forms part of an aggressive, ongoing sub-county infrastructure campaign by the Department of Roads to open up rural networks, facilitate access to emergency and essential services, and stimulate long-term economic development.
