The Turkana County Department of Roads officially handed over the newly completed 10-kilometre Nawoiyaregae-Kaputir-Nakuse Road in Kaputir Ward, Turkana South Sub-County.
Fully funded by the County Government of Turkana through the Road Maintenance Levy Fund (RMLF), this critical infrastructure project marks a significant milestone in ongoing efforts to improve transport networks and rural connectivity across the region.
During the official handover ceremony, Kaputir Ward MCA Hon. Michael Aemun underscored the strategic importance of the corridor, noting that it establishes a vital transport link between the village units of Nawoiyaregae, Kaputir, and Nakuse, while substantially enhancing access to the economic hub of Kainuk town.
The engineered 10-kilometer stretch is expected to transform local mobility by reducing travel times and providing residents with a safer, more reliable transport corridor.
By addressing previous transit bottlenecks, the upgrade directly supports local livelihoods and strengthens socio-economic links between rural communities.
The official transition of the asset into community use was witnessed by a delegation of administrative and technical officials, including Kaputir Ward Administrator Cosmas Kibele, County Road Surveyor Janet Bosibori, and Kaputir Unit Village Administrator Wiberforce Kamar, highlighting the collaborative local oversight driving the county’s infrastructure development agenda.
