
DCI detectives in Kiminini, Trans Nzoia County, have arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with the fatal assault of a farm worker in Tawai village, Wamuini Sub-location.
The suspect, identified as Samuel Kemboi, was arrested following a chase involving DCI detectives and officers from Kiungani Police Station, with assistance from members of the public.
According to a report filed at Kiungani Police Station, the deceased, 22-year-old Stephen Ndungu, had been engaged as a farmhand a day before the incident.
Police said a confrontation broke out between Ndungu and Kemboi on the afternoon of August 24, 2026, reportedly following a dispute over a mobile phone.

The disagreement allegedly escalated into a physical fight, during which Kemboi is accused of repeatedly punching and hitting Ndungu.
Ndungu collapsed during the confrontation and died at the scene.
Officers who responded to the incident documented visible injuries on the deceased’s head, face and stomach.
Following the incident, detectives launched a search for the suspect, eventually cornering and arresting him with the assistance of members of the public.
Kemboi is currently being held in police custody as Kiminini detectives complete investigations before he is presented in court.
Meanwhile, Ndungu’s body has been transferred to Kiminini Cottage Mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination to establish the cause of death.
