Pauline Sheghu Confident Ahead of 2026 Safari Rally as Final Preparations Intensify in Naivasha

Pauline Sheghu is exuding confidence as she steps up preparations for the 2026 World Rally Championship Safari Rally 2026 set to take place in Naivasha.

Racing under the nickname “Queen of the Dust,” Sheghu, alongside her navigator Linet Ayuko, said her vehicle fully complies with the strict technical regulations set by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA).

Speaking during a detailed inspection session at her team’s garage, Sheghu said her crew has conducted comprehensive checks to ensure peak performance and safety. She noted that critical components including the fuel system, tyres, mechanical parts and safety locking mechanisms have all been thoroughly serviced and upgraded to meet international competition standards.

The driver said the intensive preparations are aimed at improving competitiveness and ensuring reliability during the high-intensity rally stages. She expressed optimism that the team’s meticulous approach will enhance their chances of performing strongly in the iconic championship event.

Pauline Sheghu said her team is focused on ensuring every technical detail is ready ahead of competition, noting that the vehicle has been thoroughly inspected to meet Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) standards.

“We are here to make sure everything is set in terms of the fueling system, tyres, mechanical parts and locks, and that everything is up to date as per FIA requirements. The car is ready. It’s a very powerful machine and I hope all goes well. We are ready for both wet and dry conditions,” Sheghu said.

Together with her navigator Linet Ayuko, Sheghu has been conducting final fine-tuning sessions, including intensive test drives aimed at maximising performance and reliability.

The pair understand the demanding nature of the World Rally Championship Safari Rally 2026, widely regarded as one of the toughest rounds on the WRC calendar due to its unpredictable terrain and rapidly changing weather patterns.

Sheghu and Ayuko are determined to deliver a strong performance on home soil. With preparations entering the final phase and confidence rising within their camp, the duo remains optimistic about making a competitive showing when the race engines roar to life in Naivasha.
