Kenyan socialite Amber Ray has hit back at digital creator Diana Marua, reigniting the debate over cosmetic surgery, gym workouts and the different ways women choose to transform their bodies.
The exchange began after Diana took to social media to showcase her fitness journey while encouraging women to embrace exercise and healthy eating rather than relying on cosmetic procedures.
For Diana, the focus is on ageing gracefully and putting in the work. The mother of three admitted that maintaining consistency with her workouts has become almost addictive, although she acknowledged that getting rid of stubborn belly fat remains one of her biggest challenges.
Her message, however, appeared to catch Amber Ray’s attention at a time when the socialite was in Turkey documenting her own cosmetic surgery journey.
Amber responded with a pointed message: “Babe, some of us can afford the gym and the shortcuts. Life is already hard enough… I refuse to make everything a struggle. Respectfully.”
The response quickly reignited the familiar gym-versus-surgery debate among social media users, with the two personalities representing different approaches to body transformation.
Amber has been openly documenting her procedures in Turkey. She revealed that she underwent a six-hour procedure involving breast implants, Lipo 360 and a fat transfer to her calves.
The socialite had traveled to Turkey earlier in the month for the procedures after previously sharing her plans for breast augmentation with her followers.
Amber has also spoken about undergoing extensive dental work while in Turkey, with 21 teeth reportedly costing about KSh924,000 in total, at an estimated KSh44,000 per tooth.
Meanwhile, Diana continues to document her fitness transformation and growing commitment to working out.
She explained that her motivation to exercise has increased as she gets older, saying: “I think I am addicted to the gym; I want to do those workouts because we are ageing gracefully.”
With Amber embracing cosmetic procedures and Diana promoting exercise, diet and consistency, their contrasting approaches have sparked fresh discussion on social media about body transformations and personal choices.
The debate has also raised a broader question about whether women should rely on exercise, cosmetic procedures or simply choose whichever approach works best for them.
