Homicide detectives have arrested the main suspect linked to the murder of Technical University of Kenya (TUK) lecturer Edgar Mokua, whose body was discovered days after he was reported missing from his home in Nairobi’s Lavington area.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Mokua was last seen on July 6, 2026, when he left his residence at Princes Park in Lavington at approximately 4:20 p.m. After he failed to return home, concerned family members reported his disappearance at Muthangari Police Station.
Five days later, his body was found near Woodcreek Academy and subsequently moved to the City Mortuary by officers from Kiamumbi Police Station.
The investigation was later taken over by homicide detectives, who pieced together the lecturer’s final movements before his death.
Investigators established that Mokua spent the evening of his disappearance at Kettle Club in the company of two men and a woman. The group later proceeded to Ibiza Club at Lavington Mall, where his companions reportedly left, leaving him behind.

He was never seen alive again.
Through forensic investigations and intelligence-led operations, detectives traced a grey Toyota Ractis, registration number KBZ 002R, believed to have been used to transport and dump Mokua’s body before fleeing the scene.
The vehicle became a key piece of evidence in the investigation, leading detectives to Richard Gikuhe Mbugua, the registered owner of the car.
Mbugua was arrested at Ruiru Blue Estate following an operation by homicide detectives. The Toyota Ractis was later recovered at Murera Farm in Juja and has since been impounded as an exhibit.
The suspect remains in police custody awaiting arraignment in court, while detectives continue with investigations aimed at establishing the circumstances surrounding the killing and identifying any other individuals who may have been involved.
The murder of the university lecturer has sparked public concern, with investigators promising to pursue all leads to ensure those responsible are brought to justice.
