Turkana County Launches 9.4-Km Urum-Moruling’a Road Project

The County Government of Turkana has successfully completed the site handover for the 9.4-kilometre Urum–Nakouetom–Moruling’a Road, officially clearing the way for critical infrastructure improvement works to begin.

Fully funded by the county administration, this vital infrastructure asset will undergo extensive grading, murraming, and targeted bush clearing to eliminate long-standing transit bottlenecks and dramatically enhance road safety and accessibility within the region.

Supervising Engineer Zaika Bilal officially handed over the construction site to the contracted firm, issuing strict directives for immediate mobilization and the commencement of structural works to guarantee the project is delivered to required engineering standards and within the stipulated timelines.

Upon its completion, the engineered 9.4-km corridor is expected to transform local livelihoods by providing community members with seamless, all-weather access to the essential local water dam and significantly improving rural mobility for the people of Moruling’a.
