600 Litres of Illicit Brew Seized in Meru Raid, One Suspect Arrested

A multi-agency security team in Igembe Central, Meru County, has seized hundreds of litres of illicit alcohol during a targeted raid in Irindie Village.

The operation, conducted following a tip-off from members of the public, resulted in the arrest of one suspect and the seizure of 600 litres of an illicit brew locally known as “Muna” and 10 litres of chang’aa.

Three Homesteads Targeted

The security team targeted three homesteads suspected of being involved in the production of illicit alcohol.

The operation was part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to disrupt the production, distribution and consumption of illegal brews across the country.

Authorities said the raid demonstrated the importance of timely intelligence and cooperation between security agencies and members of the public in identifying illicit brewing activities.

Multi-Agency Operations Continue

The National Police Service has continued to conduct multi-agency operations targeting illicit brews and other forms of illegal alcohol.

The enforcement efforts are focused on disrupting the supply chain and preventing the production and distribution of illicit alcohol.

Police have also urged members of the public to continue reporting cases involving illicit brews, second-generation alcohol and other suspicious activities.
