Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders have expressed growing concern following the mysterious disappearance of former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju, who was reported missing on Saturday evening under unclear circumstances.

Speaking at Kang’o Kajaramongi in Bondo during the installation ceremony of ODM party leader Oburu Oginga, several leaders called on security agencies to act swiftly and establish Tuju’s whereabouts.

Rarieda MP Otiende Amolo revealed that Tuju’s vehicle had been found abandoned, while his mobile phones remain switched off, leaving his family unable to trace him.

“We fear that he may have been abducted last evening. We are praying that Tuju will remain safe, and we urge the police to do all within their power to trace him and protect him,” Amolo said.

Nyando MP Jared Okelo urged senior government officials to intervene, calling on President Ruto to direct the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to intensify efforts in locating the missing former minister.

“Dr. Oburu, please talk to the president so that he can order the DCI to act. The president has the power to bring Tuju back to us alive,” Okelo said.

Kisumu Deputy Governor Mathews Owili echoed similar sentiments, expressing hope for Tuju’s safety and urging authorities to expedite investigations.

“We are praying and hoping that Tuju is safe somewhere. We request the authorities to move with speed and ensure that he is reunited with his family,” Owili said.

In his remarks, Oburu Oginga also appealed for urgent government action, warning that such incidents risk damaging the country’s image.

“I would likewise ask the goverment to investigate very quickly and let us know what has happened to our son. It is not good. This does not give us a good image as a country,” he said.

The leaders warned that Tuju’s disappearance raises serious concerns and urged security agencies to act without delay to establish the circumstances surrounding his case and ensure his safe return.
