Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has vowed to continue criticising the leadership of President William Ruto, saying the opposition will not relent in its push to unseat the President in the next general election.
Speaking in Githunguri Constituency after a private meeting with Kikuyu elders, Gachagua claimed that recent strong remarks by the Head of State against opposition leaders were triggered by increased scrutiny over alleged governance failures.
The Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader accused the government of poor leadership and widespread corruption, particularly in the health sector.
‘We Will Not Relent’
Gachagua said the opposition’s campaign to remove President Ruto from office had gained momentum.
“We will not stop until we remove him and his allies from power,” he said, adding that the opposition had launched what he termed a “sweep them all” campaign.

He maintained that the opposition would continue exposing what he described as systematic failures within government institutions.
Claims Over Health Sector
The former Deputy President alleged that recent tensions between the government and opposition stemmed from claims of an attempted takeover of Nairobi Hospital.
He further claimed that public health facilities, including Kenyatta National Hospital, were struggling with shortages of essential supplies.
“They were angered because we exposed them,” Gachagua claimed, referring to the alleged hospital takeover plan.
Criticism of Deputy President
Gachagua also turned his criticism to Kithure Kindiki, accusing him of neglecting development issues in his home region.
He cited persistent livestock theft and insecurity in Igembe North, arguing that the Deputy President had failed to address the concerns despite previously serving as Interior Cabinet Secretary.
“You cannot leave your own people suffering,” Gachagua said.
Opposition Strategy
The DCP leader insisted that the opposition would continue to scrutinise government actions and hold leaders accountable, saying their efforts are aimed at addressing challenges facing ordinary Kenyans.
