Residents in several Nairobi estates, including State House, are grappling with a temporary water shortage following a major pipeline burst that disrupted supply across parts of the city.
In a public notice issued on Saturday, the Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC) said the interruption was caused by a rupture on the main Kabete-Kilimani transmission pipeline.
The utility firm indicated that the incident occurred in the early hours of Friday at around 1am, prompting an immediate response from technical teams tasked with repairing the damaged section.
“This is to inform you of a temporary water supply interruption in your area due to a burst pipe on the major Kabete-Kilimani transmission pipeline,” the company said, adding that repair works are ongoing.

NCWSC said its teams are working to replace the damaged section of the pipeline, conduct pressure testing, and safely restore the system before resuming normal supply.
The company projects that water services will be fully restored by Sunday at 6pm, subject to the successful completion of repairs and system checks.
In the meantime, residents have been urged to use available water sparingly and prioritise essential needs.
To support vulnerable groups and critical institutions, the utility has deployed water tanker services for emergency supply. Customers in need of the service have been advisd to dial *260# and select Option 5 to make a request.
