Officials from the Jubilee Party are calling for a scientific and transparent process within the opposition coalition to determine a single presidential flagbearer ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The party’s national leaders said they will oppose any attempt to pick a presidential candidate through closed-door negotiations, warning that boardroom decisions could undermine the credibility of the eventual candidate.
Jubilee Opposes Boardroom Selection of Flagbearer
Speaking in Kutus during an inspection of the Kirinyaga County Jubilee office, Jubilee National Chairman Vincent Kemosi Mogaka said that the opposition must adopt a scientific method such as structured polls or consensus mechanisms that reflect the will of supporters.
According to Mogaka, relying on private negotiations among political elites risks alienating voters and could jeopardise the chances of the preferred candidate in the 2027 presidential race.

“We will not allow a situation where a few people sit in a boardroom and decide who becomes the presidential flagbearer,” Mogaka said.
Assurance of Free and Fair Party Nominations
The Jubilee chairman also assured party members that the party will conduct free and fair nominations ahead of the 2027 elections.
He maintained that the party will not issue direct nomination tickets to aspirants seeking various elective positions.
“No aspirant will be given a direct nomination ticket. All those interested in running on the Jubilee Party ticket will go through a fair nomination process,” he added.
Leaders Present During Kirinyaga Visit
Mogaka was accompanied by Jubilee National Deputy Secretary-General Zack Kinuthia and Kirinyaga County Jubilee Chairman Mureithi Kang’ara during the visit.
The leaders used the visit to inspect party operations and mobilise grassroots support as the party prepares to strengthen its structures ahead of the next general election cycle.
Matiang’i to Open Jubilee Offices Across Counties
During the visit, Mogaka revealed that presidential hopeful Fred Matiang’i is expected to open Jubilee Party offices across all 47 counties in the country as part of a broader effort to revitalise the party.
This, he said, is aimed at strengthening the party’s grassroots networks and preparing the party for future electoral contests.
Call for Kirinyaga Aspirants to Register
Meanwhile, Kirinyaga Jubilee Chairman Kang’ara urged individuals interested in vying for elective seats in the county to formally register with the party at the county office.
The county chair also encouraged those seeking positions to begin early preparations within the party structures.
