Motorists have received temporary relief after the High Court suspended the instant traffic fines system introduced by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).
In a ruling delivered by Justice Bahati Mwamuye, the court issued conservatory orders stopping the issuance and enforcement of automated traffic fines under the new system.
The orders will remain in force pending the hearing and determination of a petition challenging the legality and implementation of the NTSA automated traffic fines system.
The court further direct the government to file its response by March 20, with the case scheduled for mention on April 9.
The decision offers temporary relief to motorists across Kenya who had raised concerns about the instant traffic fines system, which was introduced by the National Transport and Safety Authority as part of efforts to strengthen road safety and enforcement through technology.
