Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Chairperson, Gladys Wanga, has praised the partnership between the ruling Kenya Kwanza Alliance and her party under the broad-based agreement.
Wanga said the Luo Nyanza region has benefited significantly in the year since the agreement was signed by President William Ruto and the late ODM leader Raila Odinga.
Speaking during a church service in Bondo, Siaya County, the Homa Bay Governor pointed to several major development projects as evidence of the benefits brought by the cooperation.
“There are many things to show for this partnership,” she said. “Today we are talking about the Rironi-Mau Summit dualling, we are talking about the SGR coming to Kisumu, we are talking about the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referal Hospital being upgraded to a Level 6 facility.”

ODM Party leader Oburu Odinga also supported the partnership, saying it has secured development opportunities for the region saying that ODM intends to remain part of the broad-based agreement to ensure continued government support for regional growth.
“We are ahead of leaders. Leaders are still procrastinating and we are in this broad-based arrangement where Raila left us and we are not going to leave it soon,” he said.
Energy CS Opiyo Wandayi echoed the sentiments, stating that the region is backing President Ruto and could support his re-election in the next general election.
However, the partnership has sparked divisions within ODM,. Critics including Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino have called on the party to maintain an independent opposition identity rather than aligning closely with the government.
Meanwhile, President William Ruto has said he is targeting a decisive victory in the 2027 Kenyan General Election, expressing confidence that a possible coalition with ODM could help him win by a margin of two to three million votes.
