Nakuru Police Officer, Co-Accused Arraigned Over Robbery and Abduction

NAKURU, KENYA-A Nakuru-based police officer Naaman Okunga and co-accused Julius Waweru were on Friday arraigned before Nakuru Senior Principal Magistrate Vincent Adet over alleged robbery with violence and abduction.

According to the prosecution, the two officers allegedly robbed Humphrey Idanda of Ksh. 90,000 from his M-Pesa account on December 17, 2025, in the Bismack area of Teachers Estate, Nakuru East Sub-County.

The suspects were reportedly armed with offensive weapons and a pair of handcuffs during the incident. The court heard that the suspects allegedly abducted Idanda with the intention of causing him harm.

In a separate case, Okunga and Waweru are accused of robbing Charles Ngatia of Ksh. 5,100 from his M-Pesa account on November 20, 2025, in the Milimani area of Nakuru East Sub-County.

Waweru also faces an additional charge of personation, having allegedly posed as a police officer to falsely arrest Idanda over alleged involvement in drug peddling. He is further accused of pretending to arrest Ngatia on allegations of loitering during the November 20 incident.

The two denied the charges and were released on Ksh. 500,000 bond each, with a surety of a similar amount pending further proceedings.
