LODWAR, TURKANA-Erait Academy in Lodwar today organized an informative workshop aimed at helping parents better guide their children in choosing the right academic pathways under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).

The session was facilitated by Nairobi-based Career-Based Education (CBE) expert Ms. Anne Njoroge, who provided detailed guidance on subject cluster selection, school choices, and career pathways for Grade 9 learners.

Ms. Njoroge emphasized the importance of making informed decisions as students prepare to transition to senior school. She explained how the subject clusters align with different career pathways and highlighted the need for parents to actively participate in their children’s academic planning.

Grade 9 parents were also urged to submit the required learner details within the next one and a half weeks, ahead of the anticipated update of the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) portal.

School administrators noted that timely submission of these details will ensure a smooth process during the Grade 10 placement stage.

The school also used the opportunity to engage Grade 7 and 8 parents, encouraging them to start preparing early for the academic choices their children will face in the coming years.

The discussion focused on helping parents understand the CBC structure and how early career awareness can help learners make better decisions in the future.

The workshop also offered valuable insights into the Career-Based Education (CBE) framework and the Grade 10 placement process, outlining how learners will transition into different pathways based on their interests, strengths, and academic performance. By the end of the session, parents had a clearer understanding of how the system works and the crucial role they play in supporting their children’s educational journeys.
