A group of prominent leaders, among them Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Siaya Governor James Orengo, and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, have formally opposed the registration of the proposed Linda Mwananchi Party.
The leaders, alongside seven others, raised objections after an individual identified as Charles Wanyonyi submitted an application seeking to register “Linda Mwananchi” as a political party.
In their submission to the Registrar of Political Parties, the politicians clarified that the proposed party has no affiliation whatsoever with their political movement. They cautioned that approving the registration could open the door to fraudulent activities and potential conmanship targeting members of the public.
The group urged the Registrar to carefully review the application to prevent confusion and protect wananchi from possible exploitation.
