The Ministry of Interior and National Administration has unveiled sweeping salary increments for officers serving in the Kenya Police Service, Kenya Prison Service and the National Youth Service (NYS), with the new pay structure set to take effect in July 2026.
In the revised structure, police constables will now earn up to Ksh 57,700, a sharp rise from Ksh 38,975, representing a 48% increase. Newly recruited police officers will start at Ksh 29,296, up from Ksh 20,390, marking a 44% boost in entry-level pay.
NYS officers in the lowest cadre will earn between Ksh 26,222 and Ksh 37,912, reflecting improved remuneration for junior personnel.
At the top of the scale, the highest-paid police officer will take home up to Ksh 345,850, a 20 per cent increase, while senior officers in the Prisons Service will earn between Ksh 301,548 and Ksh 584,903 under the new adjustments.
The government says the pay rise is part of broader reforms aimed at enhancing welfare, motivation and operational efficiency within the disciplined services.
